We need to understand that water Baptism is not about throwing verses around to make a point. The true question is, do you understand what salvation is? Do you know what Jesus came to save us from? If your view of salvation is your ticket to paradise, then you have no reason to see baptism in any other way. But if you realize that Jesus came to save you from your sins and the Scriptures teach that baptism is a remission of sins, then you can begin to ask yourself “what is water baptism really for? “

I believe that it will go without saying that faith in what Christ accomplished on the cross is what even allows baptism to be activated in our life. It is only through believing and trusting in Christ’s finished work on the cross that will allow access to the grace of God. Belief and faith alone is not sufficient to free you from the body of sin according to the scripture.

Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; Romans 5:1-2

It is through faith that we have access to the grace of God, the giving of His Son as the perfect sacrifice for sin. So if we believe that Jesus died for sins, we will then walk according to that belief and accomplish the work Jesus commanded in Mark 16:16 when He said “He who has believed and is baptized shall be saved”. Jesus was aware that it would be through a water ritual that our sins would be washed away so He made sure to state it before His ascension to be with His Father.

Have you ever tested your foundation? There are elements that we are to undergo in order to be properly established on the Rock which is Christ. Mental faith and belief In Jesus is not enough. Jesus never commanded us to have a mental assent in His existence but to act upon what He taught.

He said that there are two types of people. Both are building houses. Both are believers but one is wise and the other foolish. The wise hear His words and act upon them, the foolish hear His words and do nothing.

Both are building houses. Both are churchgoers, tithe payers, and tie wearers but one is obedient and the other is not. The storm with test your foundation. Check your foundation now before the storm gets to you.

We need to come back to the basics. Paul said he feared that our minds would be led astray from the “simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ” through deception. This is also my fear, especially as we approach these last days where knowledge is increasing and the desire for more knowledge is at the forefront of many people’s minds. Our end goal is that our house remains, and to achieve that goal, a strong foundation is required to be laid.

I recently had the privilege of being on the “This Is Real” podcast with Torben and the crew in California. It was an amazing time. Not only was it great being on the podcast, but we were also discussing one of my all-time favorite subjects, water baptism. Having four of us talk about this really brought the energy of the subject out to another level. There is so much truth in the scriptures concerning baptism that we must get it out. There is freedom in baptism when you really understand it. It is so frustrating to me that mainstream Christianity refuses to consider the word when it comes to water baptism. I believe it’s the traditions of our denominations that have prevented many from being free. But we are going to change that, by the grace of God.
